Liz Hurley reveals the very demanding secret behind her ageless skin

Liz Hurley is one A-lister who constantly seems to defy the ageing process. Her secret? Lots and lots of moisturiser.

“The one thing I swear by is moisturiser – and lots of it,” the 53-year-old revealed toWoman & Home magazine.

“I’ll moisturise my face about six times a day and my neck about 10 times a day.”

But while we admit we could possibly do with a little more moisturiser, is 10 times a day not, erm, a little much?

We contacted Dr Justine Hextall, consultant dermatologist at the Tarrant Street Clinic, to find out whether we should be following Liz’s lead to keep our skin looking younger.

“I absolutely agree hydrating skin is important in order to protect the skin barrier and prevent moisture loss,” Yahoo Style UK.

“However, I would question the need to apply moisturiser 10 times a day. I wonder if Liz Hurley may need to look at her cleansing regime, which may be drying out her skin and requiring her to apply all this moisturiser.”

“If the skin cleansing routine is too harsh then the skin starts to lose water during the day and can become dry and feel tight.”

Justine also warns certain ingredients in moisturiser might react badly with skin if applied too frequently.

For instance, frequent application of a very oily, heavy moisturiser might have a comedogenic (ie, blackhead-causing) effect on the skin.

Frankly, we’re pretty relieved about this – we don’t have the time (or spare cash) to buy that much moisturiser.

While an A-lister like Liz has all the money in the world to spend on moisturising (and as much time to apply it as she needs) we think we’re going to give this tip a miss.
