Lisa Wilkinson's awkward text with Project staffer

She’s known for her good sense of humour, so when one The Project staffer sent Lisa Wilkinson a NSFW text, she did what anyone else would – she shared it with the world so we can get in on the joke as well.

The 59-year-old presenter took to her Instagram account to share a screenshot of the message from The Project’s executive assistant, Brad Walker.

“When one of the sweetest guys in the office makes you an offer. Of picking up some lunch,” Lisa captioned the screenshot.

The thread starts with a text from Brad to Lisa, asking her: “Hey Lisa, did you need a poke?”

Showing she doesn’t take life too seriously, Lisa wrote back with a simple shocked face emoji.

Brad quickly realised his mistake, texting Lisa back saying: “Bowl. Would you like a poke BOWL for lunch?”

The Channel 10 host obviously found the whole thing hilarious, and she wasn't the only one.

Celebrity responses

“Brad knew what he was doing!!!!!! ,” fellow panelist Peter Helliar commented on the post.

“He’s one of the greats,” Sunrise weather man Sam Mac said.

“This can’t be the first time Brad has tried this one,” Former Australian Defence Minister, Chris Pyne quipped.

Others were more interested in the fact that Lisa has 66 unread messages on her phone.

“66 unread messages? My OCD is in overdrive!!,” one person said.

“You have 66 unread messages! Those poor 66 people with no replies,” another person said.

Logies 2019

Lisa’s awkward exchange with Brad comes after she attended the Logies for The Project on Sunday night, with her fellow co-hosts.

In an interview on the red carpet with news.com.au, Lisa spoke about her time on the Today Show, saying she fell asleep while conducting a live TV interview.

“I was just sitting there, and I thought ‘if I don't close my eyes for 10 seconds, I'm going to be in real trouble here’,” she said.

“I put my head down and tried to make it look like I was reading scripts on the computer, and then I felt myself go… and I jerked myself awake.

“So, yup, I have fallen asleep on air!”
