Lisa Wilkinson breaks silence on Logies 'fight' with Karl Stefanovic

They were once breakfast television’s most dynamic duo, spending more than a decade as co-hosts of the Today show.

But since both Lisa Wilkinson and Karl Stefanovic made hasty departures from the show over the past two years, rumours have swirled about the current nature of their relationship.

Now, Lisa has given rare insight into how things are between the pair, after it was reported she and Karl were involved in a ‘fight’ at the Logies.

The truth comes out

Speaking to The Sunday Project co-host Hamish MacDonald, the Channel 10 star was asked to reveal “what did [she] say to Karl on the red carpet?”

“I told him to go f**k himself,” she replied in her trademark quick-witted tone.

The hilarious exchange was followed by Lisa revealing to her co-hosts what inspired the skit, which came two weeks after television’s night of nights.

“I was standing at the Woolies check-out the other night and there is a couple of those magazines reporting on the Logies,” she said.

“Apparently Karl and I had a fight on the red carpet, which is completely untrue.”

The clarification follows reports last week that the former co-hosts virtually ignored each other on the event’s red carpet, while Lisa happily snapped a selfie with ex-Today show colleague Sylvia Jeffreys.

‘More responsible Stefanovic’

However, Karl seemed unaffected and was likely preoccupied with enjoying the Logies followed by a sleep in.

“I don’t have to prepare for a show the next morning… so watch out,” he told Channel Nine on the red carpet.

The 44-year-old was likely poking fun at the infamous incident 10 years ago, when he was ‘still a bit drunk’ while hosting the Today show alongside Lisa Wilkinson, the morning after the 2009 Logies.

“This is the first time in 15 years I've been a Logies where I don't have to get up at 3:30 in the morning. It's like, oh, what?” he told Leila McKinnon.

“What does Karl Stefanovic unleashed look like?” Leila then asked. “Even when you were getting up early it disappoint hold you back.”

“This is the more responsible Stefanovic now,” he joked.

“Looking to be more conservative. I'll be at the gym at 3:30 followed by the library. You know, that's the sort of stuff I have come to expect for myself these days.”
