Royal bride stuns in 'bold' wedding gown with knee-length hem

While Meghan Markle may have been chastised for reportedly being a ‘diva’ over which tiara she would wear on her wedding day and which designer she would chose for her historic gown, another royal bride has decided to shun tradition altogether on her big day.

Marie Chevallier married Grace Kelly’s grandson, Monaco’s Louis Ducruet, at Monaco Cathedral at the weekend, with her second wedding dress featuring a plunging neckline and a short hemline.

Although Louis doesn’t hold an official royal title, he is still 15th in line to the Monaco throne and is very much part of the Monaco royal family.

Not one, but three gowns

The 25-year-old bride looked breathtaking in a Atelier Boisanger gown as she walked down the aisle, with the design silk and chantilly lace dress taking 300 hours to create.

However it was Marie’s second wedding dress which has everyone talking, as the Rosa Clara creation features a deep neckline and, as the designer wrote on her Instagram, ‘a bold short hemline’.

“The perfect blend of striking statement, elegance and sophistication! A marvellous wedding full of love, charm and happiness,” Rosa Clara wrote on Instagram.

The designer also created Marie’s civil ceremony attire, with the bride again proving her fashion credentials by opting for a silk crepe culotte jumpsuit with embroidered lace at the waist.

It also featured a discreet v-neckline and a daring open back, which would have been perfect to keep Marie cool in the Monaco heatwave.

Loved-up

Marie and Louis met when they both studied at Western Carolina University, with the Monaco royal dropping to one knee at the Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai beach in February.

“Let me introduce you the future madame Ducruet. She said yes and we are now engaged,” Louis wrote on his Instagram page.

And in another break with royal tradition, Marie celebrated her hen party in Las Vegas with her ‘squad’, posting photos from the poolside at Marquee Las Vegas dressed in a white swimsuit with the word ‘Bride’ emblazoned on the front.

The last photo Louis posted with Marie was seven weeks ago, where he captioned a glam snap of the both of them: “You are my heaven on earth”.
