Just when we think we’ve heard every crazy bridezilla story, we spend five minutes on Reddit and find this horrifying tale.

A woman writes that she’d been asked to be a bridesmaid in a close friend’s wedding. Shortly thereafter, her friend, whom she calls “Ella,” wrote in an email, “You’ll need to dye your hair for the day, I’ll take you to my hairdresser and cover the cost :).”

Hmm, that seems like a lot to ask.

“This had never been mentioned to me. I’m a natural ginger, so it’s not like I have an outrageous hair color,” she continued, “although Ella and her other bridesmaids are all brunettes.”

The bridesmaid said the bride “also mentioned my hair is quite ‘attention-grabbing’ and I’d take away from the cohesiveness of the group.”

After going back and forth with the bride, who didn’t budge, she asked Reddit: “Am I being reasonable here? I’ve never been involved in a wedding before so I’m not quite sure what’s expected of me. I’ve gotten some messages from the other bridesmaids who are telling me I should just do it.”

The commenters on Reddit, never known for holding back, hit hard with a solid NOPE to this bridezilla.

“Is this a joke? Heck no. Especially going from red to brown; you might not ever get your natural color back,” one person wrote.

“You are not being unreasonable at all! I’m planning my wedding now, and I’d NEVER ask bridesmaids to dye their hair! This is bridezilla-level s***,” another wrote, “like she’s scared of being upstaged by her ‘maids, so she’s making crazy demands.”

The experts at Bridal Guide say: “Don’t ask that your bridesmaids get spray tans, professional makeup application, manicures, pedicures, and professionally done updos — unless you’re footing the bill.” While this bride offered to foot the bill, it’s still an excessive ask.
