Princess Charlotte Turns 1: How The Royals Are Celebrating

To celebrate Princess Charlotte's first birthday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released a series of new photographs of the little Princess, taken at their country home on Norfolk.

Taken by Kate back in April, the photos show the adorable tot playing inside as well as out in the garden, in one photo she is seen pushing along a wooden toy cart with the giant grin on her face.

“The Duke and Duchess are very happy to be able to share these important family moments and hope that everyone enjoys these lovely photos as much as they do," said a statement from Kensington Palace.

While Wills and Kate have expressed their desire to keep Charlotte's birthday low-key, it seems the world has other ideas.

The Palace have released a list of the gifts the Princess has received since her birth on May 2, 2015, and it's extensive to say the least.

Topping the list however is an 18k white gold rattle which is covered in diamonds and rubies and sapphires from the Natural Sapphire Company and is valued at £30,000 (approx $57,500).

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are incredibly grateful for all the letters, gifts and good wishes they have been fortunate to receive in the year since Princess Charlotte was born”

During their visit to the Palace last week, President Obama and his wife Michelle gifted the birthday girl a jigsaw puzzle and a cuddly toy version of their Portugese Water Dog, Bo, the same one they gave Prince George a year ago.

No doubt the presents are going to keep rolling in, with the Palace revealing that in just one year, Charlotte has received gifts and letter from 64 countries, including blankets, clothes, booties and toys.

As for how the royals plan to mark the special day, Wills and Kate are believed to be planning an intimate affair with only close family members at their home in Norfolk.
