Watch Men Read Out Abusive Tweets To Female Sportswriters

A powerful new video shines a light on the harassment and vile treatment of female sports writers by male sporting fans in a new campaign called #MoreThanMean.

Just Not Sports teamed up with female journalists Sarah Spain from ESPN.com and Julie DiCaro from 670 The Score for the video, which sees men read out some of the vile tweets written to the two women.

Unbeknownst to the men - who were not the authors of the Tweets but rather random participants - the women had actually already seen the Tweets.

The video stars off with the men reading out some more light-hearted Tweets however they quickly become much more hurtful and you see the men struggle to read out the insults and even start to well up.

Some of the hurtful Tweets include, "One of the players should beat you to death with a hockey stick, like the whore you are," while another reads, "This is why we don’t hire any females unless we need... our d***s sucked or our food cooked."

Another uncomfortably reads out, "I hope your boyfriend beats you," as he, visibly upset, adds "Sorry".

Sadly however since the video was released, Spain and DiCaro have been targeted further further harassed, with trolls claiming they tried to hijack their abuse and sell it off as sexism.
