Flower Girl And Ring Bearer Marry 17 Years Later

A couple in the US have tied the knot in the same church where they walked down the aisle together 17-year-ago earlier as a ring bearer and flower girl.

It sounds like the plot of a Hollywood movie, but it's reality for these newlyweds from North Carolina whose story is now going viral after the groom's mum posted the then five-year-olds on Facebook.

"I had a crush on him from the start," Brooke, now 22, told ABC11.

"He absolutely could not stand me. He said I got on his nerves. I'd tried to play with him at school and at church and he just didn't want much to do with me at all."

Her new husband, Adrian, 21, confirmed his initial dislike. "I was like, ‘No, tell me I don't have to walk down the aisle with her?’" he told WCHS. "She had a crush on me, but she got on my nerves I can remember that."

The pair went on to attend elementary school and middle school together before finally falling in love in high school. "Every time our paths would go separate ways, we'd reconnect," Adrian told ABC11.

As for the attention their big day is receiving, the pay say they are in shock.

"We are all in shock as to all the attention that this is getting," Adrian said. "There was a picture that my mum posted on Facebook and we're glad that it's good news going out and not bad."

The couple said they now have photos from both ceremonies proudly on display in their home.
