There are ways to outmanoeuvre such people – or preferably don’t let them cast you in this role in the first place. Peacemaker is often a thankless role at the best of times. You don’t have a hotline to the source of everybody’s eternal happiness. Home and routine trumps the unknown and you really don’t feel like playing fast and loose with anything connected to your emotional security.
