Lewis Capaldi apologises as he cancels European tour dates due to illness

The star took to social media to personally apologise for pulling out

Lewis Capaldi has apologised to fans as illness forces him to cancel his upcoming European tour dates.

The Scottish singer, 26, took to Instagram and Twitter to apologise for pulling out personally, explaining a nasty bout of bronchitis has forced him to pull out of gigs in Zurich and Milan.

"Hello everybody, it's Lewis Capaldi here. I'm f***ing gutted to be making this video and I’m so, so sorry to have to do this but unfortunately, I’m going to have to reschedule the remaining shows on my European tour."

The star goes on to explain that after losing his voice while on stage in Stockholm last week, he was sent home by doctors.

After seeing another set of doctors and going through medications, he flew back out to Barcelona to perform on Saturday evening (March 11).

Sadly, his voice to give out again during the sound check and he was ruled out of being able to perform that evening, with Sunday's (March 12) concert in Madrid, Tuesday's Stuttgart show (March 14), and Wednesday night's show in Munich (March 15).

The latest set of shows join the previously cancelled Zurich and Milan last week.

"I’m really sorry about this. I should be able to do this," he continued in the video. "And I feel like a f***ing d**k and for cancelling especially tonight in Barcelona when it’s so close to the show.

"I don’t know what else to say here; I want to do a video and post so you can know it was coming from me and know someone in management.

"I’m so, so f***ing sorry and hopefully I’ll see you all very soon. I’m very sorry We’ll get the rescheduled dates sorted as soon as possible."

New dates will be announced in due course, with those who have tickets to the shows able to reschedule or ask for a refund.
