Lego built a functioning Ducati motorcycle out of 15,000 building blocks

Lego built a fully functional Ducati motorcycle out of 15,000 Lego blocks.

The Lego Technic Ducati Panigale V4 R is a project by Lego Italia and Ducati. Designer Riccardo Zangelmi spent 400 hours building the motorcycle by hand. Zangelmi has been a brick artist for years but the Lego replica is kind of a masterpiece. It also marks the artist’s first time using Lego Technic.

“Taking part in this project of LEGO Italia and Ducati was the most exciting professional challenge I’d ever faced. It pushed me well beyond any limit and I succeeded by crossing the finishing line as part of a team,” Zangelmi said in a statement.

Lego Technic is the company’s line of plastic rods and parts that allow users to create more advanced designs. The range doesn’t just include new shapes, but new functionality with gearboxes and steering systems.

In the Ducati, the Technic elements enable builders to simulate different speeds and driving techniques. It also has a stand, exhaust pipe, windshield and dashboard that makes it feel ultra-realistic.

A version of the Lego motorcycle will hit stores “soon” for $69.99. This one only has 646 pieces (a relief for some) and is for builders aged 10 and up.

“I hope that building the Lego Technic Ducati Panigale V4 R set transmits the same intense emotions that I feel today,” said Aurélien Rouffiange, senior designer at Lego Technic. It should be viewed as more than just a game, I hope it will be a lure to enter the world of mechanics, power and technology. The beginning of a long journey, full of fun and enthusiasm.”
