One fan suggested that it’s not Lay’s that is at fault, but rather that “Nobody does Nashville Hot Chicken right.”
The flavor was originally introduced by Lay’s in 2020 as part of the “Flavor Icons” collection, which aimed to recreate “ the taste of iconic restaurant dishes in potato chip form.” The Nashville Hot Chicken flavor was inspired by Party Fowl in Nashville, Tenn.
According to a press release from the company, other flavors that debuted at the same time include Chile Relleno and Philly Cheesesteak. Additionally, the collection featured New York Style Pizza kettle chips and Carnitas Street Taco wavy chips.
