Lay’s ‘Extra Crunchy’ Chip Flavors From the ’90s Return for a Limited Time
Lay's is delivering a hefty dose of nostalgia with the return of a fan-favorite variety no one has seen since the mid-'90s–unless they were enjoying a rewatch of the holiday classic, Home Alone.
The Frito-Lay brand quietly relaunched the same chips that Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) was snacking on after being abandoned at home by his family in the original film; during that scene, he famously calls out to the empty house: "I'm eating junk and watching rubbish! You better come out and stop me!"
That's right, Lay's Crunch Tators are back! The chips, which are described as "extra crunchy" by the brand, are currently available for a limited time.
One eagle-eyed foodie caught a glimpse of them on shelves at Dollar General, sharing a picture to Reddit, along with their astounding review of the chips: "Still very much fire."

The following Thursday, Nov. 7, a credible food blogger by the username Markie_devo confirmed the chips were headed exclusively to Dollar General stores in three flavors: Mighty Mesquite BBQ, Original, and Hoppin' Jalapeno.
According to listings reviewed by Parade, the chips are being sold in 8-ounce bags for $4.45 each, but they have only begun to roll out at some locations. So, if the store nearest you doesn't have them yet, it doesn't mean you won't see them there in days or weeks to come.
The return of Lay's Crunch Tators follows a trending uptick in nostalgia-inducing offerings, with Twix, Little Debbie and even Sam's Club cashing in on the value of bringing back previously discontinued products or launching new ones inspired by an old classic.
