Kylie Jenner has been sizzling in string on her Bahamas getaway, but her latest snaps have taken the poolside looks to a whole other level.
The mum turned heads with a very strange accessory worn with a Dior one-piece swimsuit overnight.
Though the Kardashian’s sultry pose and generous curves may have some fans distracted, others couldn’t look past a floor-length braid extending from the billionaire’s head that reminded more than one fan of a classic, if decreasingly popular hairdo from the golden age of braids.
That is, a rat’s tail, most recently made infamous by one Shia LaBeouf.
Kylie has taken some time out from being the world’s youngest billionaire to escape to the Bahamas with her daughter Stormi and bestie Anastasia Karanikolaou.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star didn’t restrict her beachy content to the divisive braid, however, also turning heads in a series of unusually fresh-faced and stripped back looks.
In one photo, the star poses in a brown bikini with a selection of more subtle braids accessorising her notably lighter hair.
It was definitely the bolder hair look that grabbed fans’ attention, however.
Fans divided over ‘avatar’ hairdo
Kylie’s 164 million followers were divided over the unusual hairdo, with some loving the extra-terrestrial look, and others finding less flattering comparisons.
Die-hard fans compared the Kylie Cosmetics founder to iconic fantasy characters.
“Ok Rapunzel,” one wrote.
“Avatar,” another suggested.
Others didn’t mince their words, branding the look ‘creepy’.
“Eeeekk that braid just doesn’t do it for me,” one wrote.
“It kinda creeps me out,” another agreed.
“Is this the new generation’s version of the classic rat’s tail?” another wondered.
If you were wondering where the excess hair came from, one fan has a theory that seems to hold up.
“All the hair she pulled out the drain,” they suggested.
Though the humble rat’s tail seemed to have died a squealing death, the Kardashians have an uncanny ability to drag controversial trends kicking and screaming into the mainstream.
So get braiding ladies and gentlemen, because this is shaping up to be the new must-have beach accessory of 2020.
