"My family loves my turkey and my mashed potatoes," the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star tells PEOPLE
Kyle Richards has big holiday plans!
Speaking with PEOPLE in an exclusive interview at the 2024 Bravo Fan Fest in Miami, Fla. on Saturday, Nov. 23, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 55, says "all my family" will be coming together this year for her "legendary" holiday dinners.
"Believe it or not, I'm always the last-minute person," Richards says of her holiday plans. "I just sent a text now saying, 'What time should we do Thanksgiving at the house?' This is how I roll with my family."
She adds, "So, I'll do something later and then Kathy [Hilton] will probably do something earlier, or who even knows?"
When it comes to the winter holidays, Richards plans on jetting off to Aspen, Co. to go skiing. "I think by then I should be a little more organized," she jokes.
But before then, she will soak in quality time with her loved ones. "I’ll have all my family together," she tells us. "A lot of times what I'll do is have a Friendsgiving, and then I'll do something with my family before I leave town. With Kathy and my cousins and everybody, and then I’ll go to Aspen."
As for her favorite recipes, Richards says her "Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner is legendary."
"It just is," she continued. "So, everybody gets really excited, and they start hitting me up. 'Are you doing Thanksgiving dinner? Are you cooking?' My family loves my turkey and my mashed potatoes. I’m very good at cooking, I must say."
Richards' appearance at Bravo Fan Fest follows the Tuesday, Nov. 19 RHOBH season 14 premiere, in which Richards, 55, revealed to audiences that since announcing her and estranged husband Mauricio Umansky's separation, he has moved out of their home.
Along with Umansky's departure, Richards noted that her second eldest daughter, Alexia, 27, also moved out. Richards and Umansky, 54, share three daughters: Alexia, Sophia, 24 and Portia, 16. Richards also shares Farrah Brittany, 36, with ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie.
Earlier this month, Hilton exclusively told PEOPLE that Richards is "just taking her time" with the split. "She's spending a lot of time with her girls," she said.
Ahead of the premiere, Richards spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about her separation and speculation about her relationship status with country singer Morgan Wade, which played out during the past season of RHOBH. Richards revealed that following the rumors, she had a conversation with her daughters, explaining that she was questioning her sexuality.
“The fact that there were so many rumors out there, I took that opportunity to have that conversation with my daughters to be able to say to them, ‘Listen, we know what's being said, but this is where I stand and how I actually feel, and I'm sharing this with you because I've always led by example,’” she said.
“For me as a mom, I want my kids to always be able to come to me with the hard conversations and know that they're going to be loved and accepted no matter what — and they are my best friends.” Adding, “I wanted to share that with them out of respect for them."
She said that she blown away by their reactions. "I felt so loved and so supported,” she recalled. “Just honestly, it is one of my most proud moments as a mom to see their reaction and what they said to me. They just want me to be happy. They're like, ‘We just want you to be happy and that's all we care about.’”
