Kardashian sister speaks out about the 'toxic' environment of KUWTK: 'I was anxious about filming'

After 14 years, Kourtney Kardashian has decided to take a break from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” to focus on her family.

In a cover interview for Vogue Arabia’s July/August issue, the mother of three shed some light on her decision to step away from the spotlight, noting that she started to feel unfulfilled.

“I have been filming the show non-stop for 14 years … I was feeling unfulfilled and it became a toxic environment for me to continue to have it occupy as much of my life as it was,” Kourtney told Vogue Arabia. “Privacy is something I have come to value and finding that balance of private moments with being on a reality show is hard.”

As for her plans for the immediate future, Kourtney says she wants to focus on being happy and spending time with her family.

“I am following my happiness and putting my energy into that which makes me happy,” she said. “I always try my absolute best when I’m with my kids not to be on my phone, to be present in what we’re doing and have those moments where you’re looking in each other’s eyes and connecting. It’s so important.”

Though Kourtney will not be a regular on KUWTK this season, she isn’t ruling out a possible return.

“I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there,” she explained to Entertainment Tonight in 2019. “But I’m not saying goodbye.”

During the season 18 premiere of KUWTK back in March, an argument between Kourtney and her sister Kim resulted in a physical brawl. Later, Kourtney admitted that the physical altercation was her breaking point.

“I don’t understand why there’s all this judgment about the way we each want to live our lives,” Kourtney said. “We should be accepted for what we each want to do. It’s not a positive environment for me to want to be in every day when I feel like they’re so critical of me. Every day I’m coming in, I’m like, ‘Why am I choosing to be in this environment?’ And I think I just reached my point of not being able to tolerate it anymore.”

“I do feel like part of it is my own thing. I was anxious about filming this season,” she added. “It doesn’t make me happy. I don’t want to miss out on time with my kids. It’s not worth it.”
