Olive oil is a known kitchen essential widely present in households across the world. However, from the cheapest to the most expensive options, not all olive oils are high in quality.
Kosterina is one particular brand that proves the difference with its premium quality olive oil and balsamic vinegars.
What’s the inspiration behind Kosterina?
Katerina Mountanos started the brand in 2016. She describes herself as “a serial entrepreneur with a passion for family, living a healthy lifestyle and, of course, all things Greek.”
She explained that she and her husband, Kostas — who put the “Kos” in Kosterina — would enjoy extra virgin olive oil from their families’ olive trees in Southern Greece for years, but could “never find a proper substitute here in the States.”
To meet this demand, she created Kosterina.
How are Kosterina’s olive oils different from others?
Setting itself apart from most store-bought olive oils, Kosterina harvests olives in Southern Greece to create its authentic cold-pressed products.
This means each selection has a very high polyphenol count, which leads to tremendous health benefits, including high antioxidant levels, the ability to lower inflammation and reduce the risk of diseases including diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
Kosterina products are also rich in taste and smell, making them perfect for sautéing, roasting vegetables, and drizzling over anything from pasta to popcorn or even yogurt.
As a frequent home cook and a devoted Kosterina olive oil user, I can firmly attest that it is one of the most luxe and smoothest options I have ever used — and in addition to being affordable (under $25), a little goes a long way.

What more does the brand offer?
While olive oil is Kosterina’s main export, the brand also has an extensive and original line of balsamic vinegars, including original, fig and dark chocolate. Specialty dark chocolate bars are also now a part of the Kosterina product lineup.
