Game of Thrones star Kit Harington mocked his fledgling movie career in an ominous TV appearance just days before he sought professional treatment for ‘personal issues’.

The actor, who found fame as Jon Snow, checked into the Prive-Swiss wellness retreat in Connecticut, seeking treatment for alcohol issues, stress and exhaustion, according to Page Six – all of which were said to be magnified by the show’s wrap.

Just weeks earlier however, the 32-year-old made light of his career as part of a Saturday Night Live monologue in the lead up to GoT’s final episode.

“Many of you have seen me on Game Of Thrones which is probably a good thing,” he told the show’s studio audience.

“Some of my other credits include the movie Pompeii - which was probably more of a disaster than the event it was based on.

“I was also in a movie called Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Anyone a fan? No I didn't think so.”

Both films mentioned by Harington were almost universally panned by critics, with Silent Hill earning just an eight per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Similarly, The Death & Life of John F. Donovan, in which he played the lead role last year, saw the flick earn just $2.6 million at the box office against a $37million budget.

So far, Kit’s biggest success in cinemas has been as the voice of Eret in the animated movie series How To Train Your Dragon.

News of his treatment was first revealed by Page Six this week, with a source telling the publication “the end of GoT really hit Kit hard”.

“He realised ‘this is it — this is the end’, it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, what next?

“His wife Rose (Leslie) is being extremely supportive. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet.”

Kit’s rep later confirmed the star’s stay at Prive-Swiss which immediately preceded the end of Game of Thrones’ eight-year-long run.

“Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues,” they said.
