Kirsten Dunst Trips on 2024 Oscars Statue But Saves Herself by Pirouetting Like a Ballerina in White Gown

Kirsten Dunst narrowly avoided a fall on the 2024 Oscars red carpet.
While posing for photos in her elegant white square-neck Gucci gown and Fred Leighton jewelry, the actress, 41, encountered a slight blip — or rather, slip.
In a video shared by Variety, Dunst can be seen walking along the carpet while looking back at her husband Jesse Plemons (who's a few steps behind) and smiling for the cameras as she's in motion.
Her multitasking comes to a halt when, just as she holds out her arm to pose with her man, she trips and finds herself wrapped up in the arms of another man — the life-size Oscars statue that luckily catches her fall!
Dunst's save could also be credited to her own quick reflexes as she steadies herself on the gold sculpture, just like a graceful ballerina.
The couple greets the near-fall with humor. The Friday Night Lights actor, dressed in a tux, smiles while his wife giggles and hides her face as she whispers something in his ear.
Throughout it all, they still manage to work the cameras like professionals.
This year, Plemons' film Killers of the Flower Moon is up for 10 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (Martin Scorsese), Best Actress (Lily Gladstone) and Best Supporting Actor (Robert De Niro).

Sunday's carpet seemed to be a hotspot for stumbling stars.
Earlier on in the night, actress Liza Koshy took a major tumble caused by her massive platform heels.
In the viral moment, Koshy completely tumbled in her red off-the-shoulder Marchesa gown, but kept on laughing through it all, even joking that a "manhole" was responsible for her wipeout.

Dunst and Plemons quietly tied the knot in July 2022 at the GoldenEye luxury resort near Ocho Rios, Jamaica after six years together and welcoming their two sons — Ennis, 5, and James, 2.
The two met on the set of Fargo and have worked on a few other projects since, including their upcoming movie Civil War.
“Because we fell in love on a set, we fell in love creatively first. I think we'll always come back to that, in a very not-involving-our-real-life way," Dunst told Marie Claire in a recently published interview. "And also, listen, we don't talk to each other on set. I left him alone, he left me alone."
The 96th Oscars will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. ET.
