Kim Cattrall claims she found out about Sex And The City reboot through social media

Kim Cattrall has said she found out about Sex And The City reboot And Just Like That… from social media and was never approached to be in it.

The actress played sex positive PR Samantha Jones in all six seasons of TV show Sex And The City as well as the two spin-off movies.

She said no to reprising the role again, however, when the idea of a third big screen adaptation was being touted.

“I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media,” the actress, 65, said in a new interview with Variety.

When asked what her initial thoughts were on learning a spin-off show was happening, she said: “I was like, ‘Ooooh.’ How’s...”

The interviewer then offered, “How’s that going to work?”

“You said it. Not me,” Cattrall replied.

“It’s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough,” she continued. “I also didn’t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.”

The British-born star went on to reveal that one of the reasons she turned down the third movie was the script.

According to her, there was a storyline that would see Samantha sent unwanted “d*** pics” from Mirandas Hobbes’ 14-year-old son Brady.

This simply did not sit right with Cattrall, who described the notion as “heart-breaking”.

Samantha’s absence in the new HBO series is explained as she had a falling out with Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw and moved away from New York, where the show is set.

The character sent Carrie a string of text messages including replying “soon” when asked if the former friends could talk however.

This led to fan speculation that Samantha could be set to join season two of And Just Like That…

“That’s a no,” Cattrall said of a potential return. “It’s powerful to say no.”
