Kevin Bacon Shares a Personal Message on “The Masked Singer”'s “Footloose” Night (Exclusive)

In addition to Bacon's message, judge Robin Thicke will take the stage to perform his own rendition of Kenny Loggins' "Footloose" on the Oct. 2 episode of 'The Masked Singer'

The Masked Singer is getting ready to cut loose!

In PEOPLE’s exclusive preview of the singing competition’s Footloose night, Kevin Bacon appears to share a special message in honor of the iconic film's 40th anniversary.

“We got a very personal message from the man himself, Mr. Footloose, check it out,” host Nick Cannon says before calling him “the real Bacon.”

“Hey, Masked Singer! Kevin Bacon here. Wow, [the] 40th anniversary of Footloose, and you are honoring Footloose on that show,” the 66-year-old actor says. “That is so cool, and I was so honored to have been in the movie 40 years ago.”

“But let me just say something you know from my heart,” he adds before reciting the lyrics to Kenny Loggins' hit song, “Footloose,” from the 1984 film’s soundtrack.

In addition to Bacon’s message, fans can expect The Masked Singer to pull out all the stops when it comes to their celebration of Footloose.

Judge Robin Thicke will kick off the show with his own rendition of Loggins’ “Footloose,” with fellow panelists Rita Ora,  Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy dancing along.

Four stars from Group A will also be taking the stage to perform fan-favorite songs from the film’s soundtrack.

In the 80s classic musical drama, Bacon’s character Ren McCormack is a Chicago-born teenager who moves into a small town where dancing is outlawed by a local minister (John Lithgow). McCormack soon falls in love with the minister’s daughter, Ariel, and the two fight back against the ban, aiming to hold a senior prom at their high school.

Earlier this year, Bacon returned to the Utah high school where he shot the movie in 1984. After the students of Payson High School put on a dedicated campaign to bring the movie star back to their town, Bacon finally obliged, visiting Payson on April 20. “Be good to each other — and don’t forget to cut loose,” the actor said to students attending that night's prom.

Noting how it is the 40th anniversary since Footloose was released, Bacon told those in attendance at the event, “It’s been 40 years. I mean, that just blows my mind. Things look a little different around here. I’d say the thing that looks the most different is me.”
