Ken Jeong & Joel McHale Take Jab At Jo Koy’s Golden Globes Monologue At The Emmys
Former Community stars Ken Jeong and Joel McHale reunited Monday night at the 75th Emmy Awards to present the Outstanding Reality Competition award, and in the process took a not-so-subtle jab at Jo Koy’s not-well-received monologue at the recent Golden Globes.
“Reality TV competitions are better than they’ve ever been. In fact, reality is the most noble of callings, even more than medicine and I should know,” began Jeong, a practicing doctor prior to his television career.

“You were thrown out of medicine,” McHale interrupted. “OK, he killed a guy.”
“You can’t say that!” Jeong quipped back. “The instruments that almost killed that dude were the ones the nurses left in. The ones that saved his life, I left in. Besides, I only had the gig for 10 days at that point so give me a break.”
The jab was meant for Koy, who bombed during his Globes opening monologue and blamed his writers, saying “I wrote some of these, and they’re the ones you’re laughing at.” He also defended his jokes that fell flat, saying, “I got the gig 10 days ago.”
The duo then moved on to presenting the Emmy to RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Even Koy’s ex, Chelsea Handler, couldn’t miss taking a ding at Koy when she hosted the Critics Choice Awards Sunday.
“Unfortunately, Martin Scorsese isn’t here tonight, but that’s not going to stop me from letting everyone in this room know that I would toss him around like a little Italian meatball,” she joked, then nailed the punchline: “Thank you for laughing at that. My writers wrote it.”
