Kayla Itsines offers Sweat app for free amid coronavirus

Sweat trainer and global fitness icon Kayla Itsines is offering her iconic fitness program - and everything available on the Sweat app - for free amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

From now until Tuesday April 7, new members can get one month of free app access, as the company aims to offer those looking for an accessible and rewarding workout experience, a way to maintain physical wellness while at home.

And not only will this help millions around the globe currently without gym access, but it’s also for a great cause.

The Sweat initiative is in partnership with the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a UN organisation which has been allocating resources to better protect health care workers, distribute essential supplies, and accelerate the development of vaccines in response to the health crisis.

Created by the UN and Swiss Philanthropy Foundation to support the World Health Organization, the fund enables individuals, organisations and institutions globally to contribute directly to the ‘COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan’.

Upon sign-up, new members will be encouraged to give five dollars to the fund as a donation.

On top of this, Sweat is also donating $162,000 ($100,000USD) to the cause.

“Our heart goes out to everyone around the world that has been affected by the novel coronavirus outbreak,” Kayla Itsines says.

“As a token of our support to relief efforts, we would like to welcome women who are looking to stay active at home to join the Sweat community, share your struggles and accomplishments with millions of like-minded women around the globe, and give back to the cause if you can.”

Tobi Pearce, CEO of Sweat, added, “Our company was founded on the principle of helping others in any way we can. We’re in a unique position now to open our doors to anyone in the world affected by the novel coronavirus outbreak, give them a flexible way to stay healthy at home, and support the cause at the same time.”

President and CEO of the UN Foundation Elizabeth Cousens also thanked members for any contributions to the fund.

“Sweat has an incredibly engaged community, especially now when millions of people are at home doing their part to contain the outbreak and looking for ways to maintain a healthy routine. We would like to thank their members for any and all contributions to the fund,” she says.
