Katy Perry's Festive Christmas Tradition Includes Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
Add this to the list of reasons to move to Montecito.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Montecito neighborhood sounds like a real winter wonderland. Despite there ever really being snow on the ground, Katy Perry, one of the area's famous residents, makes sure everyone gets into the holiday spirit with one of her and Orlando Bloom's long-standing Christmas traditions.
While filming her ITV concert special "Night of a Lifetime" in London this week, Perry revealed that she and her husband, Orlando Bloom, put on a free Christmas concert for all of their neighbors each year—including Meghan and Harry. "We are going to be home in America and actually we are going to do something we do every year," Perry said of her holiday plans, per The Daily Mail. "We rent a trolley and we dress up, and there’s lights on the trolley, and we go to all of the neighbors in my hometown and we see all of their lights."
She added, "Sometimes there is hot cocoa and I’m dressed like The Grinch and it’s going to be super fun. We go caroling. We are going to go and knock on people’s doors and do some carols."
The Sussexes have lived near Perry and Bloom for several years now, and the two couples have become friends. Back in 2021, Harry opened up about befriending the couple during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, telling host Dax Shepherd, "Just two days ago, Orlando Bloom sent me a message—because he’s just down the road and we sort of keep in contact."
Last year, the duke and duchess attended Perry's final Las Vegas show, where they were spotted dancing with friends—including fashion designer Misha Nonoo, Celine Dion, Cameron Diaz, and Zoe Saldana—in the VIP section. And most recently, Harry enlisted Perry to perform at the opening night of The Invictus Games in Vancouver in February 2025.
