Katy Perry and Doechii's bond goes beyond “I'M HIS, HE'S MINE.” The duo teamed up for Katy's album, 143, last year, and in a new interview with Rolling Stone, the hitmaker got candid about looking up to other artists in the industry and giving advice to new-gen breakout stars, like the “DENIAL IS A RIVER” artist.

If you recall, Katy made headlines back in October 2024 when Stevie Nicks revealed a conversation she and Katy shared a decade earlier. Apparently, the pop star asked the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman who her “rivals” were in the industry, to which Stevie replied, “Katy, I don’t have rivals. I have friends. All the other women singers that I know are friends. Nobody’s competing.”

Now Katy is adding some context to that quote. “I really look up to Stevie, and I think I was having a candid conversation with her about her experience,” she explained to Rolling Stone. “In pop music, especially with women, they have a lot of pressure on them. It’s amazing to have people that you look up to tell you how to navigate that. I get to do that and I like to give the cheat codes.”

According to Katy, she's now trying to pay it forward with her 143 collaborator, Doechii. “I’m like, 'Girl, here are the cheat codes. Try this,'” Katy continued. "If you don’t only want to survive, if you want to thrive, if you want to have a whole life outside of this and an identity, if you want to live a human experience and not just be famous and tucked away in a hotel somewhere, never truly getting to experience the beauty of life.”

Doechii isn't the only Best New Artist Grammy nominee that Katy has reached out to—she's also shown love to Sabrina Carpenter on her Short n' Sweet Tour and offered a helping hand to Chappell Roan amid her meteoric rise to fame. The “California Girls” singer likened fame to an experiment, saying, “Not everybody goes through this intense amount of pressure, and on such a scale and in such a spotlight. And these days, it’s super quick. It’s really being thrown into it.”

As for why she shares these moments with rising talent, Katy continued, “You always respect people who have come before you and paved the way. I think where I’m at now is I am glad in some ways I get to be that to whoever asks. I’m very honest about it, and I’m also reaching out and just being like, 'Hey, are you OK?' Like, I’m here.”

And to that, we say: Katy is mother!
