Kate Ritchie spills embarrassing secret about former Home and Away co-star Bec Hewitt

Former Home and Away star and radio host Kate Ritchie has revealed a cheeky little secret about a former co-star and their Christmas tree habits, leaving her fellow radio co-hosts Fitzy & Wippa gobsmacked.

Revealing the juicy little tidbit on her radio show Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, the trio were talking about Christmas traditions and habits when Kate started talking about people who probably listen to Christmas carols all year round.

"Yeah they're the ones who leave the tree up all year because they're lazy," Wippa chimed in, while Kate started to look suitably awkward. When Wippa questioned if she left her tree up all year Kate said, "I know someone who does that."

When pressed on who it was, Kate said she wasn't going to divulge, saying "they're not there a lot" and "they usually come home in summer".

"Go out with a bang at the end of the year," Fitzy encouraged. "Tell us who it is!"

As Fitzy and Wippa started throwing out celebrity guesses that ranged from Chris Martin to "a Hemsworth" to her former Home and Away co-stars like Ray Meagher, Ada Nicodemou, and Lynne McGranger, Kate kept saying "No!" before eventually caving.

"I think Bec Hewitt did it a little bit," Kate muttered, to Fitzy and Wippa's laughs.

Bec Hewitt previously admitted to leaving Christmas tree up for 'years'

Bec Hewitt hasn't kept this information a secret herself however. In 2016, the former actress revealed in an interview that her Christmas tree had been up for "eight years".

“I don’t know if this is a little bit sad but our Christmas tree has been up for eight years!" she said. "We’ve been living overseas, and we fly in to Australia quite late. Because we fly in and it’s nearly Christmas time, and then we have to leave for the Australian Open in a hurry, so we just don’t get round to it; I’m busy packing.”

She then joked it didn't matter what time of year it was, and that in her Australian house it was "always Christmas!"

Lleyton and Bec Hewitt step out with son Cruz

Lleyton and Bec Hewitt recently stepped out with their 15-year-old son Cruz at the 2024 Newcombe Medal, where Cruz was nominated for male junior athlete of the year.

The teen is quickly making a name for himself on the junior circuit, often being compared to his father but saying he doesn't "mind" the comparisons.

“It is what it is. But I don’t really mind,” he said. “It just drives me to be better.”
