Kate Middleton's birthday celebration without William

Kate Middleton had her 37th birthday on Wednesday however, the celebrations were a little more low-key than you might expect for a royal Duchess.

It appears the mum-of-two didn’t even spend much of her special day with her husband Prince William, as he was bound to royal duty attending the 30th anniversary of the London Air Ambulance.

Having worked as air ambulance pilot himself and being recently announced as the Patron of the Air Ambulance’s campaign, the event was a big deal for William, 36, and one that he wasn’t going to miss.

Meanwhile, Kate is believed to have spent her day at home in Kensington Palace looking after their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – who we can only hope showered her with birthday hugs before being dropped at school and nursery.

But despite keeping things low-key this year, we have a feeling Prince William may have planned something for that evening.

During his event, William was presented with a homemade birthday card for wife Kate by three youngsters and one guest couldn’t resist asking what his plans were.

But the Duke of Cambridge was very cautious not to reveal their plans and made a joke out of the question by responding, “Now that would be telling”.

Despite the private celebrations, Kate Middleton certainly wasn’t short on birthday wishes from both the royal family and the public.

The Queen’s official Twitter account @RoyalFamily was one to wish the Duchess a Happy Birthday while celebrating all the charity work she has achieved.

Along with the Duke of York, who posted using the same photo of her.

Many fans also took to social media to honour Kate’s 37th birthday.

Kensington Palace later took to social media to thank fans for their wishes, writing, “Thank you, everyone, for all your lovely messages on The Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday.”
