Kate Middleton rocks skinny jeans and makes pizza with kids on royal visit

Kate Middleton has made her first public outing of 2019 a day after Meghan and Harry’s trip to Birkenhead.

The 36-year-old Duchess of Cambridge spent the morning outside at the King Henry’s Walk Community Garden in Islington, learning about how the project brings people together through gardening and food growing.

Kate donned a smart-casual outfit for the visit to the community garden – a $710 tweed sports jacket by Dubarry, skinny jeans and she ditched her usual knee-highs for a pair of $384 leather-trimmed suede ankle boots from See by Chloe.

The visit came after the announcement that Kate has co-designed the Royal Horticultural Society’s Back to Nature Garden at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show with landscape architects Andree Davies and Adam White.

It ties in with the Duchess’ activities at Sayers Croft Forest School after her maternity leave in October.

Yesterday, Meghan Markle took a leaf out of her sister-in-law’s style book and wore an eye-catching red Sentaler coat with matching Stuart Weitzman heels and a purple dress from Aritzia’s Babaton collection.

The Duchesses have resumed their royal duties for the year and tomorrow Kate will visit the Costume Department at the Royal Opera House, while Meghan will take a trip to one of her new patronages, Mayhew, an animal welfare charity.

The Duchess of Sussex, who is expecting her first child at the end of April 2019, reportedly plans to work well into her pregnancy.

Kate carried out her last engagement at London’s Olympic Park about four weeks before she gave birth to Prince Louis in April 2018.

During her first engagement of 2019, the Duchess of Cambridge met with local residents and school children from St Jude and St Paul’s CE Primary School to discuss their experiences of the community garden.

Kate got stuck in making bird boxes with the pupils and helping them to prepare pizzas in the outdoor oven.

One even asked Kate whether the Queen liked pizza, to which she replied: “That’s such a good question, I don’t know… maybe next time I see her, shall I ask her?”

She also said that her eldest children George, five, and Charlotte, three, “would be very sad that I’ve been out here making pizzas with all of you and they’re not here.”
