Kate and Meghan's joint Wimbledon appearance a ‘masterful PR exercise’

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s Wimbledon appearance was a ‘masterful PR exercise’, according to royal expert, Angela Mollard.

Speaking in an interview on the UK This Morning show, Angela dissected the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex’s joint front at the tennis tournament, saying it was likely a way to distract the public from the alleged ‘rift’ between the pair.

“This has a lot of Kate written all over, she’s sort of seen to take the lead,” Angela said.

“They were both there, they were both enjoying the tennis and they obviously had Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, there.

She went to say that it was no coincidence that Meghan was ‘sandwiched’ between the sisters, with photographers getting clear snaps of the trio laughing and joking together.

“Kate’s a kind person, she well brought-up, she’s doing the right thing. If there is any rift, we don’t really know,” she said.

Kate opted for a sophisticated green Dolce and Gabbana midi-dress to mark the occasion.

She paired the dress with a Dolce and Gabanna Sicily bag and Asprey’s woodland oak leaf earrings.

Meanwhile Meghan chose a crisp white shirt with a blue and white patterned pleated skirt. Social media users have described the pattern as a “surprise delight” on Twitter.

It was the second trip to Wimbledon this year for the both of them.

Controversy

Meghan’s visit sparked controversy after her royal protection officers told 58-year-old grandad, Hasan Hasanov, he was unable to take pictures of her as she watched Serena Williams as she was there in a “private capacity”.

However, it turns out the Hasan had no idea the Duchess of Sussex was even there and said he was left confused when one of the 37-year-old’s minder’s told him off and asked him to give the former Suits actress privacy.

“I honestly couldn’t really care less about taking a picture of Meghan, Harry or any of the royals — and, if I did, I’d ask first,” Hassan said in an interview with The Sun.

“I was much more interested in getting a video of Roger Federer in action.”
