Karl Stefanovic has been patient. The TV host was famously dumped from Today at the end of last year, and now eight months later he’s ready to make his official television comeback in a big way.

The air date for his show, This Time Next Year has been confirmed as August 12, with the 44-year-old saying working on it has been an “absolute joy”.

“I’m really proud and excited to be hosting series two of This Time Next Year,” Karl said in an official Channel Nine statement on Sunday.

“I’ve met some truly inspiring Australians who will warm the hearts of viewers by pledging to reach huge personal goals in just one year.”

This Time Next Year will see Karl speaking to a series of guests who share their inspirational stories that take place over the course of a year.

“We have a whole new group of contributors as diverse as a 101-year-old woman who wants to learn to fly, a wheelchair-bound mum who dreams of running in the backyard with her five-year-old son, and a woman who wants to medically transition to being a man,” Karl explained.

This Time Next Year is an absolute joy to work on, and I’m not going to lie, I shed a tear or two.”

Karl was famously dumped from the Today show at the end of last year following a string of controversies.

His younger brother, Peter Stefanovic and his sister-in-law, Sylvia Jeffreys, also followed him out the door.
