Since his appearance at the Logies and This Time Next Year promos being released, Karl Stefanovic has sparked more speculation than ever before that a return to the Today show could be imminent.

While Channel Nine is happy with their current hosting lineup fronted by Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight, there’s one more plan that could miraculously sway TV producers to favour Karl in the near future.

Gold Logie winner Tom Gleeson reveals he’s got his eyes on getting the former Today host back on the breakfast show after his axing at the end of last year.

Now, what’s not to say this plan won’t work? In fact, Gleeson’s track record only boasts success, with campaign after campaign yielding the exact results he desired.

Look at his plea to make Grant Denyer the 2018 Gold Logie winner. It worked a charm.

He then went on to campaign for his own 2019 nomination, and what do you know, he ends up winning the whole thing.

“That’s my next job … I’ll get Karl back on the Today show. That’ll be my next campaign,” Gleeson told The Australian this week.

Already anticipating what he’ll ask the star on his popular Hard Chat segment on The Weekly, he revealed: “My first question [of Karl] is: ‘Where have you been and what’s been going on? We’ve got to get you back on the Toda y show, because I’ve been watching the show and it’s been very, very boring without you’”.

If there’s one thing we’ve learnt from Gleeson following his controversial Gold Logie acceptance speech, is that he’s not afraid of a good guerrilla campaign, and is in it to win it.
