Karl Stefanovic appeared on the Today show this morning for his first day back at work since the birth of he and wife Jasmine Yarbrough's daughter Harper May.
The presenter had taken a week off to stay at home with Jasmine and Harper after welcoming the newborn on Friday May 1 at Sydney's North Shore Private Hospital.
When his co-host Ally Langdon asked how he was going with both the newborn baby and returning to his routine of early morning TV, Karl responded: "I've been struggling a bit, to be honest."
Ally asked: "Emotionally? Physically?", to which he joked: "Everything hurts. I'm tired. Emotional."
However, Ally didn't have much sympathy for him, saying: “That’s great, but it’s time for the news. We can deal with this in the ad break."
Karl excitedly spoke about his newborn, saying his week off had been "wonderful".
"I know they call it the bubble in the first couple of weeks but Harper may the bubble continue," he said.
"She is so gorgeous – 2.9 kilos of just scrumptious delight. She's sleeping OK, three hours on, three hours off.
"Jasmine has just taken it in her stride, she is feeding really well. It makes me cry already," he said.
He admitted that changing nappies again for the first time in over a decade was a bit of shock to the system.
"It felt very difficult waking up this morning only five minutes after changing a nappy, but it's like riding a bike – you just get used to it.
"(Harper’s) feeding beautifully. Mum is terrific. It's all going really swimmingly at this point."
Karl also thanked fans for all the congratulatory messages they'd received, saying: "This is a really beautiful time for us and we felt all your love.”
