Kanye's Sunday Service trolled over $80 'brunch' plate
Kanye West may be preaching the good news these days, but it looks like that may be bad news for fans after a church choir event copped serious backlash.
The rapper performed one of his famous Sunday Services in a new local this past weekend, Bethany Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and things got... interesting.
The church service was free, but a fundraising effort offered a $55 ($80AUD) VIP ‘brunchella’ ticket for fans that included a brunch plate which has since gone viral for all the wrong reasons.
Fans on the receiving end of the plate posted to Twitter complaining that the VIP brunch they had forked out for looked more like a school camp breakfast than anything else.
Reactions ranging from hysterical to furious flooded Twitter with punters sharing their photos and experiences of the event, and reviews were far from glowing.
Fyre Festival comparisons
The drama kicked off when attendee Kimberly Kinchen shared her sad-looking breakfast in the hopes of getting a refund.
Many couldn’t help but point out the disparity between your typical $55 brunch, and what Kanye’s event had on offer.
For $55, I've had endless Mimosas for brunch. Kanye out here grifting yall with K12 Honors breakfast. How tragic. #Brunchella

Others shared footage showing a basic setup involving unopened cases of water, giant plastic bottles of orange juice, plastic plates, and no apparent seating.
Sone even began comparing it to Fyre Festival, the disastrous ‘luxury’ music festival that sparked the beloved documentary, asking if Ja Rule (who was famously involved) had anything to do with the brunch debacle.

Most had little sympathy for those who had been duped, arguing punters should have known what to expect.
“Anyone who would be dumb enough to pay to go to "Brunchella" deserves what they get,” one wrote.
Since the furore erupted the catering company took responsibility for one of the paltry brunches and insisted Kanye himself wasn’t responsible.
“The catering company acknowledges it did not provide adequate food for ONE attendee and a social media post went viral,” caterers Lauryn’s Fine Catering told TMZ in a statement.
“Kanye West and the Sunday Service collective should be disassociated with such claims surrounding the food at the event.”
