Julianne Hough Reveals Which 'Dancing with the Stars' Winner Shouldn't Have Won

Every winner of a reality show is going to come with fans and detractors. And it's clear Bobby Bones has a latter in the form of Julianne Hough, who disagreed with his controversial Dancing with the Stars win.

Hough, who served as a pro and judge on DWTS before her current role as co-host, was asked on Sunday's episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen if there has ever been a celebrity win that she "strongly disagreed with" on the show. She initially paused when asked the question, until fellow WWHL guest Mickey Guyton nudged her, whispering Bones' name.

"Oh, I actually agree with you!" Hough replied. "And I think it’s because of the fanbase, right? It’s all about the fanbase on that show. He was not the best dancer, I agree."

Hough and Guyton both followed up their statements by lavishing praise on Bones. They applauded his efforts on Season 27 of DWTS, saying there are "great" fans who "love" him.

It wasn't long before word got back to Bones himself of Hough's words. But, for what it's worth, the radio host was in agreement with the former champ's statement, bridging the topic in a video on Instagram.

"I was the worst dancer. I take pride in that," he said. "Now, I tried as hard as anybody in the history in the show. But I can’t dance now, couldn’t dance then. But, you know who took down the big evil empire of dance? Well, it’s not evil or an empire...but me!”

Bones competed on Season 27 of the Emmy-winning reality show in 2018 with pro Sharna Burgess. Despite his best efforts, he consistently finished near the bottom of the rankings based on the judges' scores. Regardless, though, Bones' fanbase built from years as a DJ prevailed, giving him the win.

Bones' victory was definitely the most shocking DWTS has had in quite some time. The win prompted much outrage from the fans, who questioned the value of a dancing show where arguably the "worst dancer" of the finalists won. Following Bones' win, the series announced they were putting measures in place to more heavily weigh the judges' score, which they have implemented for the past five years.
