Juice WRLD’s posthumous album has biggest debut of 2020

In The Know and Complex News have come together to bring you the latest news in hip hop music and culture.

Juice WRLD’s posthumous album, “Legends Never Die,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the biggest album debut so far in 2020.

According to Billboard, the album moved 497,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week following its drop on June 10. Its release resulted in the largest streaming week of 2020 and the fourth-largest streaming frame ever for an album.

“Legends Never Die” knocked another posthumous rapper’s album from the top spot. Pop Smoke’s “Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon” is now in the No. 2 slot.

Juice WRLD passed away in December 2019 at the age of 21 following a medical emergency. The rapper had just landed in Chicago’s Midway International Airport when paramedics were called to the scene. Officials later ruled that the cause of death was a result of an accidental oxycodone and codeine overdose.
