Josh Brolin Explained Why He Sleeps With Nicotine Pouches In His Mouth, And I Still Don't Get It

Here's an all-timer of a "Don't try this at home" story.

In a recent appearance on Marc Maron's long-running WTF podcast, veteran actor Josh Brolin revealed that he uses nicotine pouches 24 hours a day — literally. Even when he's sleeping.

“I don’t even know I’m doing it, I’m asleep,” he said. “I have a pouch in my lip, and I’m not fucking lying, 24 hours a day.”

Josh even said that his wife, Kathryn Boyd Brolin, can sometimes hear a chewing noise coming from his mouth while he's sleeping — because of the pouches, that is.

Josh explained that his pouch routine came about after he stopped using nicotine lozenges as his delivery system. “They taste like gasoline and they got a punch to them,” he explained, before revealing that he got seven cavities from the lozenges because he'd keep them “up between my gum and my tooth line."

Josh also said that his reliance on the pouches has gotten to the point where he keeps them "all over" his house — and that he has to be careful about his children consuming them, too.

Josh shares two children — 6-year-old Westlyn and 3-year-old Chapel — with Kathryn. He also has two children — 36-year-old Trevor and 29-year-old Eden — from a previous marriage to Alice Adair.

“I’ve started taking them out and putting them on the bedside table,” he said, while noting that if his kids try to use them they're "gonna get sick." "Instead of stopping, I try and teach them, ‘Don’t do that,’" he said.

"Daddy needs that," he joked.

All things considered, pretty extreme! You can listen to the entire interview here, and if you've got any opinions on this peculiar habit, I'll see you in the comments.
