Jonathan Rhys Meyers has battled problems with alcohol in the past, and it was only a few weeks ago he suffered a relapse and was detained at LAX airport after a boozy mid-flight row with his wife.
Now the 41-year-old actor has spoken about his intentions to ‘change’, also revealing he doesn’t want his baby son to be inspired by him.
“Something that’s really interesting is our ability as human beings to change,” Jonathan said in a recent BUILD interview.
“To take what we are which is imperfect humans and then we change with the process of life. And if we put a lot of effort into it then we can change into something that is truly beautiful, truly peaceful.”

He then went on to explain the impact he could have on his young son, Wolf, whom he shares with wife Mara Lane.
“I have a son, he’s 19 months old,” said the actor.
“Now I learned very quickly once my son was born that my son does not belong to me. My son came through me in the same way as a bow will shoot an arrow.
“I can shelter his body but I can’t give him my thoughts and I can’t give him my soul,” he continued.
“God does not go backwards. God expands the same way as the universe expands so I would not like my son to be inspired by me, I’m inspired by my son.”
Jonathan recently made headlines after he was seen surrounded by police at LAX airport after a mid-flight row, believed to be fuelled by alcohol.
“I’ve let myself down by relapsing, and it’s my responsibility. Nobody else is to blame. I actually don’t like the taste of alcohol,” he recently told the Mail on Sunday.
“I don’t suffer from alcoholism – I suffer from an allergy to alcohol every time I drink it.”
