The official logline for “Silent River” states, “Through the lens of two men, whose lives are far more connected than they realize, ‘Silent River’ explores the cracks of small-town America in the wake of discovering a serial killer among them.”
Aaron Rabin is the creator of the series and will also executive produce, with Andrew Bernstein onboard to direct and executive produce. Seeger and Alexa Ginsburg will executive produce for Sunday Night alongside Krasinski. Amazon MGM Studios will produce.
“We are thrilled to continue our work with John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, and Sunday Night on this gripping series, which delves into the mysteries and secrets of small-town America,“ said Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios. “With John and Matthew Rhys attached to star in this wonderful story from Aaron Rabin, our global customers will be on the edge of their seats throughout this thought-provoking, psychological thriller.”
The series deepens Krasinski and Sunday Night’s relationship with Prime Video, where Krasinski previously led the streamer’s “Jack Ryan” TV series for four seasons. A “Jack Ryan” film is currently in the works with Krasinski again playing the title role and producing, while Rabin is writing the script and Bernstein is directing. Rabin was previously a writer and co-executive producer on Season 4 of “Jack Ryan,” while Bernstein was a director and executive producer during the show’s second season. Bernstein also directed multiple episodes of “The Americans,” in which Rhys starred.
Krasinski is best known for his time playing Jim Halpert on the megahit NBC mockumentary series “The Office,” on which he starred for nine seasons. He is also known for co-writing, directing, and starring in the blockbuster feature “A Quiet Place,” which has since spawned a sequel, which he also wrote and directed, and a prequel, which he produced. His other onscreen film credits include “Away We go” and “Shrek the Third,” while he directed and starred in the feature “The Hollars” and adapted and directed a feature version of the David Foster Wallace book “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.”
Krasinski and Sunday Night are represented by WME and Schreck Rose.
This marks the latest streaming TV role announced for Rhys in recent months. It was previously reported that he will star alongside Claire Danes in the Netflix limited series “The Beast in Me,” which is currently shooting. He also recently wrapped shooting on the BritBox and BBC1 series adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “Towards Zero.” Rhys is perhaps best known for his starring role in the FX Cold War spy drama “The Americans,” for which he won an Emmy Award in 2018. He also starred in HBO’s “Perry Mason” series for two seasons. His other credits include the ABC series “Brothers & Sisters” and films like “The Post,” “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” and Andy Serkis’ “Jungle Book.”
He is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and United Agents.
In addition to his work on the “Jack Ryan” TV series and upcoming film, Rabin has worked on shows like “Secret Invasion” for Marvel Studios and Disney+ and recently did a rewrite on “Nobody 2” at Universal Pictures. Bernstein, meanwhile, has directed episodes of shows like “The Diplomat,” “Ozark,” “Mad Men,” “Psych,” and “The West Wing.”
Bernstein is repped by CAA, Industry Entertainment Partners, and McKuin Frankel Whitehead. Rabin is repped by Untitled Entertainment, CAA, and Gendler Kelly.
