John Hoogenakker, Giuseppe De Domenico Among 4 Cast In Hulu’s Amanda Knox Limited Series

John Hoogenakker (Waco: The Aftermath), Francesco Acquaroli (Dogman), Giuseppe De Domenico (ZeroZeroZero) and Roberta Mattei (Non essere cattivo) are set for lead roles opposite Grace Van Patten and Sharon Horgan in Hulu’s Amanda Knox limited series.

Amanda is based on the true story of how Amanda Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher and her 16-year odyssey to set herself free.

Hoogenakker plays, Amanda Knox’s (Van Patten) fun-loving but stoic father who, despite his divorce from her mother, is a great dad to his daughters. He leads the charge to defend his daughter in the press.

Acquaroli portrays Giuliano Mignini, the Italian prosecutor in Amanda Knox’s case. A man with a need to prove himself, he’s convinced of Amanda’s involvement in the murder from the jump, and he finds his life and legacy defined by his relationship to her.

De Domenico is Raffaele Sollecito, Amanda Knox’s boyfriend at the time of the murder and oft-forgotten co-defendant, a kid of deep principle, who was drawn into her horror story by sheer chance.

Mattei plays Monica Napoleoni, the sharp, fashionable, and aggressive head of the homicide division in Perugia, and Mignini’s right hand. She is convinced of Amanda and Raffaele’s guilt and is unrelenting in her pursuit of them.

Horgan plays Amanda Knox’s mother Edda Mellas.

The series, created by KJ Steinberg, hails from 20th Television in association with The Littlefield Company. Steinberg executive produces alongside Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, & Graham Littlefield for The Littlefield Company; Monica Lewinsky via Alt Ending Productions; and Amanda Knox & Chris Robinson of Knox Robinson Productions.

Upcoming, Hoogenakker will be seen in the Viola Davis-led action thriller G20. He also will be seen in a guest-starring role in Apple TV+’s The Morning Show. Other recent credits include Netflix’s Waco: The Aftermath, Hulu’s Dopesick, Amazon’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Hulu’s Castle Rock (Hulu) and the feature film, Knox Goes Away directed by Michael Keaton. He’s repped by  Stewart Talent, Industry Entertainment & Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.

Acquaroli will next be seen on the big screen in Michael Kofler’s Seconda patria (Zweitland), and Andre Segre’s La grande ambizione. His other film credits include 2018’s Dogman. His television work includes Romanzo criminale, Rocco Schiavone and Non Uccidere. He also recurred in the fourth season of Fargo. Acquaroli is repped by Diberti & Co. in Italy.

De Domenico’s breakout role came in the 2020 Sky Original limited series ZeroZeroZero, based on Roberto Saviano’s novel. Other television work includes the Prime Video series Bang Bang Baby. He most recently joined the Finnish TV series Last to Brake. On the film side, he also appeared in the fashion film Mai Troppo (Never Too Much), starring Zendaya and Naomi Scott. He’s repped by Agave Talent.

Mattei received praise for her role in Claudio Caligari’s final film, Non essere cattivo, which screened at the 72nd Venice Film Festival. Her other films include Padre Pio directed by Abel Ferrara, Il Grande Salto directed by Giorgio Tirabassi, and Last Words directed by Jonathan Nossiter, among others. Her television work includes the series Sweet India, R.I.S. Roma – Delitti Imperfetti, Don Matteo, and the miniseries L’ultimo papa re, among others. She’s repped by AL Management.
