John Cena Recalls Filming 'Awkward' “Trainwreck” Sex Scene with Amy Schumer (and She Has a Funny Response)
"That sex scene meant a lot to me and I was, like, very into it," Amy Schumer joked after John Cena recalled filming their 2015 movie 'Trainwreck'
John Cena is recalling an awkward experience filming a sex scene with Amy Schumer.
The Jackpot actor, 47, touched on his experience acting with Schumer, 43, on her 2015 comedy Trainwreck during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast.
Cena portrayed a boyfriend of Schumer's character in Trainwreck, a role that required the pair to perform a comedic sex scene together on set.
"Amy is an angel, she made the environment so comfortable, and then when I got the part, eventually they were like, 'Yeah, it's a sex scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt sex, and all those lines you had? We're probably not going to use them, we're just going to do this stunt sex scene,' " Cena recalled of making the movie.
While he had no qualms with appearing nude in front of an audience, the actor said, "Oh my God, it's the worst," when host Sharpe asked him whether filming a sex scene is difficult.
"This is the thing — right now, you guys at home think it's just us. No, there's a whole f---ing world back here," he said, pointing out the crew at the podcast recording. Cena said there were more people on set when he and Schumer filmed their sex scene.

"This is like a great production. But dude, man, catering was right there, and the sound tent was right there," he added. "There are so many people you need to make a movie. There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing. So it's real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you're making fun of yourself— they were literally like, 'Try to have the most awkward sex you possibly can.' "
"And with an audience watching that, it's different," he said. "I don't want to say it sucks. It's just different than you all think it is."

After the podcast interview aired, Schumer reacted to Cena's recollection of events on her Instagram Stories, sharing a quick video of herself in bed.
"John, how dare you," she joked in the video, adding a broken heart overlayed in a caption. "That sex scene meant a lot to me and I was, like, very into it. And I'm in love with you."
Jackpot is now streaming on Prime Video.
