Joe Alwyn Just Made Rare Comments About His Relationship With Taylor Swift
Joe Alwyn has responded to questions about his relationship with Taylor Swift.
He and Taylor dated for six years before breaking up in April 2023. While neither of them directly commented on the exact cause of their split, a source told Entertainment Tonight it was amicable and "not dramatic." "The relationship had just run its course."
Still, chatter about their relationship has persisted — seemingly prompting the Guardian to say in a new interview with Joe how he must be ready to move on.
"That’s something for other people to do," the actor said, signaling he has already put the relationship behind him.
"We’re talking about something that’s a while ago now in my life," Joe noted. "So that’s for other people. That’s what I feel."
Joe also discussed his early career, which skyrocketed when Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk was released in 2016, shortly before he and Taylor were first linked.
The Guardian asked if he thought their relationship would overshadow his career, to which he replied, "I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control."
"And, right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course," Joe continued. "So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it."
Joe added, "If you don’t, and if you let all of that other stuff in, and if it starts to affect you and your behavior, you’re living from the outside in. And then you’re pretty fucked."
Last April, People reported that Joe had started dating again and was "happy."
He has “moved on” and “certainly doesn’t talk poorly about her,” the insider said, referring to Taylor. “He was in love with her, and it just didn’t work out.”
Meanwhile, Taylor has been in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce since 2023. You can read the latest on them here.
