Joe Alwyn Gets Hit With Taylor Swift Reference in Latest Magazine Spread
As Swifties and even casual fans know all too well, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn dated for roughly six years from 2016 to early 2023. The pop superstar wrote many songs about the British actor during (and after) their relationship. And recently, Alwyn was hit with a Swift reference in his latest magazine spread.
The Kinds of Kindness star will grace the cover of The Sunday Times Style on June 16, and the publication teased the upcoming edition via Instagram on Friday, June 14.
"London Boy," large black lettering read next to a photo of Alwyn smiling while wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt. "What Joe Alwyn did next."
Naturally, Swifties fans honed in on the "London Boy" aspect of the headline, a hat tip to a track of the same name from her 2019 album, Lover. The song was Swift's response to the public commenting on her tendency to gravitate toward British men, including Alwyn. (She also previously dated Calvin Harris, Harry Styles and Tom Hiddleston before Alwyn, and Matty Healy after they split.)

On X, formerly Twitter, one Swift fan wrote, "'london boy' he'll forever be in taylor's shadow im crying."
Another X user declared, "'london boy' lmaooooooo he’s never escaping the 'no one would have a clue who he is or give a s--- about him if taylor hadn’t dated him' allegations."
In the Instagram comments of The Sunday Times' teaser, other Swifties reacted to the "London Boy" reference. One person commented, "I’m dead with the Lover reference 😍 he earned that title 😁."
Another wondered, "Did he really approve that title?👀🙊."
We're going to guess that, no—he most likely did not.
