Joanna Burgess breaks silence over Sam and Phoebe's 'split'

They made headline news following reports they have decided to end their marriage, and now more information about Sam Burgess and Phoebe’s marriage is coming to light.

The NRL star’s sister-in-law Joanna Burgess was thought to have made a slight dig at Phoebe after she made a post claiming they enjoyed the best Christmas yet- despite the fact Phoebe did not attend.

But Joanna broke her silence to reveal that former journalist Phoebe never spent the Christmas period the Burgess family.

“It is not in my nature to take a dig at someone. Phoebe has never joined the Burgess side for previous Christmas festivities,” she wrote. “Therefore it couldn’t possibly be aimed at her! This year was no different to last year on her behalf.”

She then continued: “My last years Christmas upload I used a similar caption as it was our sons first Christmas, this year we had out daughter join the three of us hence it being the best one yet.”

Joanna raised eyebrows after she posted a family photo to Instagram on Christmas Day, showing herself, Sam, George and Luke Burgess and other friends and family enjoying lunch in Watson’s Bay, Sydney.

It came just days before new reports claim NRL star Sam and Phoebe have separated, with former journalist spending time at her parents’ house in Bowral.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the couple have told family and friends that they were separating.

The news of the split comes after the pair welcomed second child William ‘Billy’ Burgess in early December. They also share daughter Poppy, born in January 2017.
