Jim Gaffigan Makes a Bold Declaration About Using Weight Loss Drugs Like Mounjaro
Fans who watched Jim Gaffigan play Tim Walz on Saturday Night Live throughout election season might have noticed something different about the comedian—his noticeably slimmer frame.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Gaffigan, 58, talked about his recent weight loss, revealing that the medication Mounjaro helped the process along.
“I was so paranoid that I was going to be nauseous that I kind of put it off, but then it kind of worked,” Gaffigan told the outlet at the 18th annual Stand Up for Heroes Gala in NYC on Monday, Nov. 11. “It’s weird because we live in this society where people who eat too much are told that they just don’t have any self control...There are people that just have no ‘off’ button to eat, right?”

The Comedy Monster star went on to say that he finds it “really fascinating” how people seem to have “less sympathy” for those who struggle with “too much eating" versus other types of addictions.
“I would eat when I was hungry and I would eat when I was happy and eat when I was sad, and I would just eat. It was my reward,” he said, pointing out how "odd" it is that weight loss drugs come with a "negative stigma."
“It’s obviously personal, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. But then again, anonymity is a thing surrounding a lot of struggles like that," he said.

“I’m kind of like a square Midwesterner. I will never look super thin,” added, noting that he was "probably 270" pounds when he decided to try Mounjaro.
Gaffigan's new Hulu special The Skinny, which debuts on Nov. 22, will focus on weight loss.
“We’re a country that’s struggling with the obesity epidemic,” he said. “And then there are these appetite suppressants that do wonders, so The Skinny is a bit about processing society’s take on that.”
Fans can also expect to hear Gaffigan—who shares five kids with his wife, Jeannie Gaffigan—crack a few jokes about his family.
“The Skinny is a little bit about being a parent at this point,” he explained. “I’ve always talked about my kids and the different kinds of insights that I have acquired from them.”
