Jerry Jones isn't firing Jason Garrett any time soon: 'Don't bet any money [on] that happening'

The Dallas Cowboys may have lost two straight games, but don’t expect any major changes soon. Team owner Jerry Jones said he has no plans to fire head coach Jason Garrett any time soon.

Jones made those comments during a radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. Specifically, Jones said fans shouldn’t bet on Garrett getting fired during the season, according to ESPN.

“Don't bet any money [on] that happening," Jones said. "You'll lose it."

Garrett’s job status came into question after Washington parted ways with Jay Gruden following yet another loss Sunday. With Washington making the first coaching move, speculation has centered on which coach might be next.

The 53-year-old Garrett appears safe for now, but the offseason could be a different issue. Garrett’s contract expires following the 2019 season. If he can’t lead the Cowboys to the playoffs, Garrett could be looking for another job.

That’s not a concern yet. Even after losing the past two games, the Cowboys still sit at 3-2. They are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles at the top of the NFC East.

If the Cowboys can get back to their winning way, Garrett has nothing to worry about. If the last two weeks are a sign of what’s to come, at least Garrett will have the rest of the season to start prepping his résumé.
