Jelly Roll Reveals His One Marriage Rule with Wife Bunnie Xo That Keeps Them Thriving (Exclusive)
The country star opens up to PEOPLE in this week's issue about his seven-year marriage
Jelly Roll got lucky in love when he found wife Bunnie Xo — and he has some guidelines in place to make sure they keep their happily ever after!
In this week’s issue of PEOPLE, the country star reveals that he and Bunnie, who married in 2016, never spend more than two weeks apart, despite their busy schedules.
“Fourteen days has been our rule kind of from the beginning,” he says. “We actually just implemented that same rule with our 16-year-old [daughter Bailee]. Because we realized that we were going a month or two at a time without seeing her, and I was like, this just needs to be family.”
Jelly, 39, describes his wife, 44, as “the person you show up to when the chips are down,” and says that when they’re on tour together, it’s all about quality time — and realizing that touring can be something of a vacation if you try hard enough. The star kicked off his Beautifully Broken tour in support of his album of the same name in August, and will wrap later this month.
“My wife loves gothic stuff, so she likes going to the oldest church in town. This is what really tickles her fancy,” he says.
The Grammy nominee, who’s up for three trophies at the 2024 CMA Awards, first met Bunnie in 2015 at one of his shows in Las Vegas. Though the Dumb Blonde podcast host was in a relationship at the time, they remained friends, and when she eventually became single, their friendship turned romantic.
He proposed onstage in 2016, and the couple exchanged vows that same night. Last year, they renewed their vows at the same Las Vegas chapel where they said “I do.”
“I prioritize family and that’s what anchors me down,” Jelly says. “My world shrunk when I focused on one woman.”

Upon tying the knot, Bunnie became stepmom to Bailee and Noah, 8, and Jelly previously praised her on Instagram, writing, “It takes a special kind of woman to raise a child that isn’t hers… Bunnie still blows my mind every day with how loving and patient she is with Bailee.”
“Everything that I believe going right for me is in the fact that I’m pretty grounded in my family,” Jelly tells PEOPLE.
