Jason Kelce Most Looking Forward to This Fall Activity With His Kids
Jason Kelce is considering trying his first-ever pumpkin spice latte this fall, but that's not what he's looking forward to as soon as the seasons officially change later this month.
The 36-year-old former Philadelphia Eagles player doesn't appear to be super festive about the autumn equinox and all the limited-edition items that come with it, joking in a new episode of his New Heights podcast that pumpkin flavors are rather gimmicky, but he does enjoy at least one aspect tied to the seasonal fruit.
During the "No Dumb Questions" segment of the award-winning podcast that he co-hosts with younger brother Travis Kelce, Jason and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end responded to a fan submission inquiring about the duo's opinion on the fan-favorite flavors of the season: pumpkin and pumpkin spice.
"Don't know, never had one," the retired NFL star said of pumpkin-flavored bakery items, PSLs and the like. Travis, 34, admitted he's also "never had" a pumpkin spice latte, "I really only do pumpkin seeds in my oatmeal."
Jason agreed, telling listeners he thinks "pumpkin seeds are pretty good." He also added that he doesn't "mind pumpkin pie in the right environment," which he claimed isn't until the leaves start changing colors and there's a lingering chill outside.
"In general, I think pumpkin is any overrated flavor," the doting dad of three shared, stirring up laughter in Travis. "It's similar to a lot of these advertising trends that people will do to try and get you to commerce their businesses or making up national holidays like it means a damn thing just to get you to buy whatever product that holiday is selling."
"I do not fall victim to the pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cakes," Jason declared. "About the only thing I fall victim to is buying some of those cute little pumpkins to put on my front porch."
"And I do look forward to making some Jack O'Lanterns this year with the girls," he added. "That'll be a fun project."
The ESPN Monday Night Countdown personality later joked that he's also "fallen victim" to Reese's limited-edition pumpkins and, later on in the season, Christmas Ale.
On the other hand, Travis doesn't mind the extra festive flare and even gave a shout-out to his go-to "fall harvest cup of joe," which he touted as a coffee brewed with hints of cinnamon. "I am in on coffee being seasonal, I think sometimes it just matches the air. It just connects perfectly."
The three-time Super Bowl champ's spirit inadvertently sold Jason on the seasonal hype, who turned to ask Travis, "Should I try my first pumpkin spice latte?"
Jason, if you're reading this, the answer is yes.
