To celebrate, Monáe wore a strapless Giorgio Armani Privé gown with a plunging bustier embroidered with black sequins and trimmed with silver beads. The waistline of the design also featured floral accents made of black and silver crystals.

Monáe’s first time attending was in 2011 with the late creative director of the luxury brand, and she fondly recalls it as her most memorable.

"I went with Karl, so this is sort of full circle for us to be honoring him. I'm really excited about what we'll do," she told PEOPLE exclusively about her look, which she promised would be "an experience."

The Hidden Figures actress arrived on the red carpet in a large, black-and-white tweed Thom Browne tuxedo suit with mismatched patterns and ornate embellishments. She accessorized with a white leather quilted cat bag, an homage to Lagerfeld's feline muse Choupette.
