Jane Fonda Makes a Bold Declaration About Taylor Swift's Impact on the Election

Jane Fonda has never been shy about making her views known to the public, and the 2024 election is no different.

The Grace and Frankie star publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for the presidential election and celebrated on Jimmy Kimmel Live! after Taylor Swift did the same. And recently made a bold statement about the singer.

“I think she’s awesome. She’s amazing and very smart," Fonda told Rolling Stone of the pop superstar.

The 86-year-old added, "I’m very grateful and excited that she did it. I think it’s going to have a big impact."

Fonda explained that celebrities using their platform to bring attention to issues that matter to them—like her own climate activism—is worthwhile.

“What other way would there be to spend it?” she mused.

Additionally, Fonda pointed to climate policy differences between the Harris and Donald Trump campaigns, saying that “every candidate has issues. Nobody’s perfect, but the Harris-Walz ticket is the ticket that will allow us to fight, to get the solutions that climate scientists are saying we need. They give us a chance, at least, to fight.”

Fonda isn’t the only celebrity to chime in on Swift’s political sway. George Clooney said her endorsement of Harris “was beautiful. What a beautiful thing to do. And, you know, she's a real phenomenon right now.”

On Sept. 17, National Voter Registration Day, Jimmy Fallon quipped on his late-night show that “if Swifties took down Ticketmaster, vote.gov is doomed,” referencing how Swift’s fans crashed the platform of the major ticket vendor during the Eras Tour presale.
