Kate Middleton’s brother, James Middleton, has been named the godfather for a famous baby boy.

The 32-year-old has been asked by UK reality stars Spencer Matthews and his wife, Vogue Williams, to be a godfather for their son, Theodore.

Spencer Matthews is the brother of Pippa Middleton’s husband, James Matthews, and is said to have been close with friends with James for years.

Irish model and DJ, Vogue, was previously married to Westlife singer Brian McFadden, before finding love with Spencer.

“Vogue went down the family route, her sister Amber is his godmother, my sister Nina is also godmother and then a few of my pals, Max Keble White, my cousin Rob Parker and James Middleton will be his godfathers, not a bad crowd,” Spencer told VIP Magazine.

“It's more a nod to our close friends and a nod to their reliability and responsibility. A little gold star on a very good friend."

It’s believed Theodore’s christening will be held sometime in June.

There is of course another famous baby who’s godparents will no doubt be announced in due course - Archie Mountbatten Windsor.

While most of us have just two godparents, the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will likely follow royal tradition for their baby boy, and enlist up to eight of their nearest and dearest into the coveted role.

Some people in the running are Meghan’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney, who is currently in the UK believed to be visiting Archie.

Tennis ace Serena Williams is a likely contender for godparent, after supporting her friend’s transition onto the global stage.

Likewise, Princess Eugenie has been nothing short of supportive of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on her Instagram account, even posting a photo of the pair after announcing the birth of Archie, alongside the caption: ‘I'm just so happy for you!!’.
